This July’s release introduces powerful new ways to explore, contribute to, and manage your data catalog. From the beta launch of Graph Explorer for visualizing semantic relationships, to broader access for suggesting catalog resources, to one-click dashboard exports and smarter collector setup—you’ll find enhancements that make metadata management faster, more collaborative, and easier for both data teams and business users.
🔥 What’s New?
Graph Explorer (beta)
Dive straight into your data’s semantic relationships. Graph Explorer offers a sleek visualization so both technical and business users can see how glossary concepts connect to data assets all in one place. To try it, toggle on the beta feature flag and click Explorer at the top of any catalog resource or glossary entry. You can read more about this exciting feature here.
Suggest new Catalog Resources for Everyone
Now, even view-only users can propose new catalog entries using a clean, intuitive interface. An approval workflow keeps governance secure, while full-access users can toggle between suggesting and creating. This opens the door to wider collaboration while maintaining control. You can learn more about this new automation here.
New AWS Lake Formation Collector
Enhance your AWS metadata harvesting: our new collector pulls in Lake Formation tags, permissions, and policies, perfectly complementing the metadata harvested from the AWS Glue and S3. You can read more about this new collector here.
New Default Collection Types
We’ve introduced three curated collection subtypes to help you stay organized:
- Domains – Business-focused groupings of assets and concepts
- Glossaries – Semantically organized term hubs
- Sources – Home to metadata from each specific collector
These make organizing your catalog more intuitive and aligned with how teams work. You can read more about these standard types here.
💫 What’s Improved?
AI Enrichment No Longer Require Special Access
Users can now run AI-powered “Archie describe” on catalog assets without requiring access to the full catalog dataset (ddw-catalogs). This widens enrichment access while keeping permissions tight.
Cloud Collector Tests Before Run
Avoid configuration hiccups! Admins can now validate cloud collector setups before running them, catching permission or setup issues early and saving time. You can see how that works here.
Governance Dashboard Export
Export any governance dashboard to PDF with one click—perfect for sharing usage metrics, adoption reports, or compliance insights across teams. Read more here.
🔮 What’s Next?
📦 Marketplace (External Preview)
Coming soon: a sleek, ecommerce-style Data Marketplace for business users to search, discover, and request access to key data products. Want early access to this preview? Contact your customer success team!
OpenAPI 3.x Collector
Upcoming support for OpenAPI 3.x specs—harvest metadata from JSON or YAML files stored locally or on GitHub.
Simplified Sensitive Data Classification
Sensitive data tagging is expanding and will soon be part of all database and cloud collectors, no separate installs or extra steps needed.
Governance Dashboards Beyond Admins
Soon, governance dashboards will be available outside the admin portal in your analytics org making insights accessible to program managers, data stewards, and other stakeholders without full site admin access.
Bulk Editing: Edit Table Columns with Ease
Introducing a column-cart: easily select the columns across multiple tables, apply bulk metadata updates, move them between collections, and complete mass edits fast and efficiently.
We’re thrilled to deliver features that blend deep functionality with user-friendliness. Whether you’re exploring relationships, expanding collaboration, or preparing to launch data products, these updates make managing your catalog smarter and more intuitive.
